Launching a next-generation mobile display

The mission

Standout is a Norwegian hardware startup reinventing mobile work with a next-generation travel display built for lightness and flexibility. With a refined prototype ready, they needed a partner to clarify their value proposition, build a premium brand identity, and advise on product and packaging, all within a four-week sprint overlapping a Shenzhen supplier trip.

The goal was to position Standout as a high-end lifestyle brand for MacBook-native professionals and differentiate them from cheaper competitors through design craft and storytelling, not specs alone.

The journey

We built the brand around “thoughtful reduction,” creating a custom symbol, wordmark, minimal typography, a focused palette, and a dot-matrix pattern drawn from the logo’s geometry. Packaging extended the product experience with premium materials, embossed details, and an elegant use of color and type.

Product decisions, from aluminum components to braided cables, were driven by the brand and a desire for quality components. Daily collaboration during the Shenzhen visit allowed us to adapt quickly to supplier insights and shape product, packaging, and launch strategy in parallel.

The impact

Developing the product and brand together produced a cohesive system that reflects StandOut’s mission and elevates its market presence. The new identity and packaging gave the team global-grade credibility, earning strong early feedback and positioning them to pursue their goal of one million units sold by 2027.
