Quietly radical thinking for a new class of urban EV

Cities are constantly changing. The way people and goods move through them has struggled to keep up.

Komma is creating a new class of vehicle for urban mobility: compact, radically efficient, highly sustainable, and engineered for real-world performance and safety.

Designed and built by a team behind more than 40 vehicles on the road today, including Ferrari, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Maserati and VW, Komma uses one modular platform across four distinct applications: Cargo for delivery, Passenger for consumer mobility, Specialist Utility for emergency and public use, and Platform for OEM technology licensing.

When we began working with Komma, Cargo – its vehicle for urban delivery and logistics – was first to market. A series of presentations and live vehicle demonstrations were planned across Europe, so the brand needed to establish immediate credibility with senior fleet operators.

Our mission was to make a new category product easy to understand, while reflecting the ambition, quality and engineering behind it.

With the first sales meetings approaching, we organized the work around intensive weekly sprints, moving quickly from discovery and exploration into development and production.

Brand identity and sales materials developed together, allowing ideas to be tested in the contexts where they would actually be used and keeping the work practical from the outset.

The visual identity needed to reflect the product itself: quietly radical, technically advanced, and designed for the real world.

The emblem brings the form of the Komma name together with the motion of its tilting chassis. Those same angles informed custom letterforms for a logotype designed to work with equal confidence across the vehicle, sales materials and digital applications.

From there, we created a badge system for the wider portfolio. Each combines with the emblem to give Komma a simple shorthand for its different offers.

A variable-width typeface gave the system flexibility without unnecessary complexity. One family could stretch across technical information, commercial communications and more expressive moments, echoing the adaptability of the chassis itself.

The palette stays largely monochrome, with accent colors reserved for data, details and moments of emphasis.

Together, these elements gave Cargo what it needed for launch, while creating a system with enough range to support the wider Komma portfolio as it develops.

To support sales conversations, we also designed a modular presentation and brochure covering Komma’s vision, Cargo’s features and benefits, and the evidence behind them.

With the first phase complete, and following a new round of funding, we moved on to a new website focused on Komma Cargo’s priority audience of fleet managers.

That work began with a visit to the Komma studio to experience the prototype first hand. Time with the vehicle, and with the designers, engineers and operations leads behind it, gave us a deeper understanding of both the product and the standards driving it.

It also sharpened the website brief. Fleet managers are analytical, commercially minded and used to scrutinizing operational claims. The site needed to help them understand and evaluate Cargo quickly by making its performance, efficiency and operational benefits easy to assess.

Building from the approved wireframes, ease of movement became the central principle for the UI. Just as Komma Cargo moves with agility through tight urban spaces, the site moves with clarity and control.

The interface removes unnecessary friction, creating clear routes through the content and keeping the vehicle itself at the center of the experience.

Pages feel spacious and confident, with clear sections, considered typography and a restrained monochrome palette. Color comes through imagery, infographics and micro-interactions, adding energy without clutter.

To bring the vehicle to life in motion, we worked with the talented team at Harkenn, who created the AI-led film featured across the site.

The result is a website that feels direct, calm and useful, giving fleet managers a clear understanding of what Komma Cargo is, how it performs and where it can improve their operations.

The work gave Komma a coherent brand foundation ahead of an important run of sales conversations, live demonstrations and international trade shows.

The identity, sales materials and website now give the team a practical system for explaining the product clearly, supporting commercial conversations and building the wider Komma brand over time.
